Johnny Rockets to benefit from Dick Clark?

WASHINGTON The parent of the Johnny Rockets retro diner chain said it will look for cross-promotional tie-ins with its newest investment, Dick Clark Productions Inc., the entertainment conglomerate formerly owned by entertainment icon Dick Clark.

RedZone, the private equity firm created by advertising mogul and Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder, recently teamed up with Snyder's Six Flags Inc. to buy DCP for $175 million. Founded by Clark, DCP controls the television shows "American Music Awards," "The Golden Globes" and the decades-old "American Bandstand." The company also licenses Dick Clark's name to airport concessionaire HMSHost, which uses it on five Dick Clark's American Bandstand Grills. Another restaurant and dinner theater version of the grill is licensed by Branson/Belair Holdings in Branson, Mo., according to RedZone officials.

RedZone officials said they would look for such cross-promotional opportunities as featuring "American Bandstand" videos at the 1950s- themed Johnny Rockets.
