Church’s Chicken taps two new execs

Marketing and development officers join chicken chain from Moe’s, BK

Church’s Chicken, the quick-service, Atlanta-based fried chicken chain, has hired Joel Bulger as its new senior vice president of brand marketing, after last month’s hire of Pedro Voyer as the brand’s global chief development officer.

Bulger’s duties will include brand positioning and management, advertising and promotions for the 1,700-unit chain, the company said.

“Joel’s solid track record and expertise in QSR, casual dining and fast-casual restaurants will be invaluable as we position our brand for future growth,” Mel Deane, Church’s Chicken chief executive, said in a statement.

Bulger joins Church’s from Focus Brands where he was vice president of brand marketing for Moe’s Southwest Grill. In that role he was responsible for all national marketing, advertising, media and targeted consumer research for the 430-unit brand.

Bulger also worked for Darden Restaurants Inc., Wendy’s International and The Coca-Cola Company. He is a graduate of Mercer University, Stetson School of Business and Economics where he received his Master of Business Administration graduating and he has a B.A. in Advertising/Journalism from the University of Georgia.

Last month, Church’s Chicken hired Voyer as the brand’s global chief development officer to oversee franchising, international and domestic market development, reimaging, construction, facilities and real estate management.

“Pedro has a vast amount of experience in franchising and development in the QSR and multi-unit food retail industry,” Deane said a statement. “His proven track record in sustainable growth and collaborative approach towards franchisee community will be instrumental in supporting the brand’s future growth strategy.”

Voyer joins Church’s from Burger King Corp. where he worked as senior vice president of franchising and development for North America & Canada. Voyer was responsible for franchising, new store development, reimaging and construction and real estate management for portfolio that included more than 7,500 units and 600 franchisees.

Before Burger King, Mr. Voyer worked in domestic and international development positions at Starbucks Corp. and Yum! Brands Inc.
