Domino's Pizza 1Q profit rises 17.7%

New restaurant openings, positive same-store sales powered increase

The opening of 102 net new restaurants around the world, coupled with same-store sales gains of 4.9 percent in the United States and 7.4 percent abroad, powered a 17.7-percent increase in first-quarter net income for Domino’s Pizza Inc. The Ann Arbor, Mich.-based company reported a profit of $40.5 million, or 68 cents per share, for the March 23-ended quarter. Domino’s operates or franchises 4,991 restaurants in the United States and 5,997 stores in 70 international markets.

Result: $40.5 million, or 68 cents per share
% Increase: 17.7% (from $34.4 million, or 59 cents per share)

Result: $453.9 million
% Increase: 8.7% (from $417.6 million)

1Q SAME-STORE SALES

% Increase at domestic units: 4.9%


% Increase at international locations: 7.4%
