DALLAS (Nov. 2, 2009) PhaseNext Hospitality and Corner Bakery Café have partnered on a franchising deal for the opening of 12 new non-traditional locations over the next five years, the companies said Monday.

PhaseNext was created earlier this year by Rosalyn Mallet and Amy O’Neil, former Caribou Coffee executives, to franchise restaurants in non-traditional venues such as train stations, military bases and university campuses.

Mallet, who is president and chief executive of PhaseNext, said her background with La Madeleine French Bakery & Café, another bakery-café brand, allowed her to see “first-hand the high level of demand for this fastest growing segment of our industry.”

In September, PhaseNext announced a deal to open seven Smashburger units, the first locations set to open in Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, Houston George Bush Intercontinental and Washington Ronald Reagan National.

Corner Bakery is owned by CBC Restaurant Corp. of Dallas and has 115 locations in the United States.
