Cheesecake Factory appoints CMO

CALABASAS HILLS, Calif. (July  16, 2008) The Cheesecake Factory Inc. has named veteran marketer Mark Mears to the new position of senior vice president and chief marketing officer.

Mears is responsible for all of the company’s branding, including marketing strategies designed to build The Cheesecake Factory brand and increase consumer awareness. He will report to chairman and chief executive David Overton.

Mears has nearly 25 years of experience in marketing and advertising, having worked for Blimpie International and Pizza Hut as well as J.C. Penney. His background includes agency experience with Leo Burnett, Bozell Worldwide and DDB.

Most recently, Mears was senior vice president of marketing and sales for Universal Studios Hollywood.

The Cheesecake Factory Inc. operates 143 Cheesecake Factory restaurants, 13 Grand Lux Cafes and one RockSugar Pan Asian Kitchen.
