Church's rolls out hiring technology

ATLANTA (May  28, 2008) Quick-service chain Church's Chicken, based here, is rolling out to all 272 company operated restaurants the JobApp Network automated hiring system following a large drop in employee turnover at 46 test units, the vendor said.

"During our initial six-month engagement with JobApp involving 46 restaurants we were able to decrease turnover by 63 percent, relative to a control group of restaurants," according to Bunny Williams, Church's Chicken senior vice president of human resources and chief people officer. "Our restaurant managers and market leaders [area managers] are very happy with the JobApp system because it saves them time and it's very easy to use."

The subscription-based system from Troy, Mich.-based JobApp Network uses automated phone and Internet tools to help employers find job candidates, capture their application data and screen and clearly rank would-be workers, JobApp sources said. They said the technology provides pre-interview screening related to an applicant's desires and abilities and is also available to Church's franchisees.
