Weiss signs deal for Miami performing arts center

MIAMI Barton G. Weiss, who specializes in catering at performing arts and entertainment venues, said he has inked a five-year deal with event planner Adrienne Arsht to provide foodservice at the Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County.

Under the terms of the agreement, which begins this year, Weiss’ company, Performing Arts Catering by Barton G., will provide restaurant, catering and concession services for the performing arts center. Two full-service restaurants are expected to open this year, one in the center’s Ziff Ballet Opera House and the other, a street-level lounge.

“This engagement opens up a world of possibilities,” Weiss said. “The center already enjoys a reputation for world-class theater. Now I want to transform the center into a world-class venue for dining and special events. Soon patrons will come for a complete entertainment experience combining the best of food and drink with the best of the performing arts -- all under one roof.”

In addition to Performing Arts Catering by Barton G., Weiss also has a number of strategic partnership deals with such on-site foodservice providers as Stamford, Conn.-based Centerplate Inc. He also operates his Barton G. fine-dining restaurant as well as an events production company.
