NASHVILLE Tenn. The state Senate here passed a bill Thursday to allow patrons with handgun-carry permits to bring their weapons into restaurants that serve alcohol.
The Senate's bill, which was approved 26-7, was an amended version of a similar measure passed earlier this month by the state House of Representatives, according to the state Legislature's website. The House version placed an 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew on guns in restaurants that served alcohol and also banned guns from any restaurant that admitted adults only. The Senate's bill removes both restrictions.
Both bills stipulate that any person who carries a gun into a restaurant cannot consume alcohol.
Differences in the House and Senate bills must be resolved before the measure moves on to the governor's desk, according to an Associated Press report.
