Taco Bell ties free-taco offer to World Series

IRVINE Calif. Taco Bell said it would give away free tacos if a player steals a base during the World Series.

The chain, which is the official “Quick Service Restaurant of Major League Baseball,” will award one free Beef Crunchy Taco per customer from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time on designated days after the first Series game, which is scheduled for Wednesday. If a player steals a base during the first two games, the tacos will be given away on Oct. 30. If a base is stolen during games three to seven, the tacos will be free on Nov. 6.

Taco Bell also said it would donate $20,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America in the name of the first player to steal a base.

Hall of Famer Lou Brock, who stole a record 14 bases during World Series games, is Taco Bell’s promotional spokesman.

This is the fourth time the chain has offered free tacos during the World Series. Taco Bell placed a “free taco” target at the 2002, 2003 and 2004 games and offered free tacos to everyone in the United States if a home run ball struck the target.

The target went unstruck during all three seasons.
