Subway partners with soccer star for kids campaign

MILFORD Conn. Subway has teamed up with retired Hispanic soccer star Tab Ramos to combat juvenile obesity among Latinos.

As part of the Scoring a Goal for our Youth initiative, Ramos will speak with inner-city children across the country about the importance of healthy eating and exercising.

In addition to underwriting Ramos’ youth tour, Subway also is providing funds and support for the startup of a nonprofit organization, called The Tab Ramos GOAL! Foundation, which educates kids with messages delivered through sports.

Subway said the partnership is “in keeping with [the company’s] long-term commitment to promoting active lifestyles among Latino youth.”

Subway, based here, franchises more than 29,000 sandwich shops worldwide.
