Steak n Shake plans breakfast menu revamp

Chain testing new items in select locations

Steak n Shake disclosed that it is planning a breakfast menu revamp, including the debut of a burger topped with a fried egg, at this week's Multi-Unit Foodservice Operators conference, which is produced by Nation's Restaurant News.

The Double Steakburger Royal with a fried egg is just one element of a “revamp of the entire breakfast menu,” according to the Indianapolis-based chain’s senior vice president of marketing, Jim Flaniken. “We’ve always had a breakfast menu.”

The new breakfast burger is in test in select Indianapolis locations for $4.19, along with hash browns, bagel sandwiches, and strawberry and blueberry yogurt parfaits with granola. New biscuit combos include sausage, egg and cheese in any combination.

The new menu is scheduled to debut on Valentines Day next year. “It is still in pilot” at undisclosed locations, Flaniken added.

San Antonio-based Biglari Holdings Inc., is the parent company of 482-unit Steak n Shake.
