Starbucks awards development rights for Poland

WARSAW Yum! Brands and Burger King's franchisee in Poland said it has agreed to open Starbucks units in that country, the Czech Republic and Hungary.

The company, the Polish branch of 200-restaurant operator AmRest Holdings, said the deal was a preliminary agreement. A spokesman told the Associated Press that AmRest expects to open the first Starbucks in Poland eight to 10 months after the pact is finalized. Seattle-based Starbucks has 13,000 outlets elsewhere in the world.

AmRest recently entered into its agreement to develop Burger Kings in Poland.
