Splichal to give New York a Patina

NEW YORK The Patina Restaurant Group has agreed to open a duplicate of its namesake Los Angeles restaurant in the famed Lincoln Center music and entertainment complex here.

The opening will make the Patina brand the onsite dining choice for two of the nationÕs leading music venues.

The 175-seat New York branch is scheduled to open in 2009, for Lincoln CenterÕs 50th anniversary. The fine-dining outlet would be inspired by the Patina in downtown Los AngelesÕ landmark Walt Disney Concert Hall. Lincoln CenterÕs Patina will be among four new restaurants planned for the 16-acre performing arts campus, which is undergoing a massive renovation and expansion.

The center's catering operations, as well as several of the more-casual new eateries, will be operated by Restaurant Associates Managed Services, formerly a sister brand of Patina Group, which until late last year was owned by foodservice giant Compass Group PLC of London.

Patina founder Joachim Splichal and Nick Valenti, along with Japanese foodservice conglomerate Shidax Corp., last year purchased elements of Restaurant Associates and Patina Group to form the Patina Restaurant Group, which has offices in both New York and Los Angeles. It operates about 50 restaurants and foodservice operations across the country.
