Sodexo retail group to debut burger concept

ALLENTOWN Pa. The Retail Brand Group, the retail restaurant development division of contract feeder Sodexo USA, said it would debut a new burger concept this fall called the Original Burger Company.

The new concept will serve grilled, made-to-order burgers and chicken sandwiches along with side items, such as French fries. The check average is expected to range between $4 and $6.

Erica Milios, director of brand development for RBG, said the Original Burger Company is perfect for on-the-go customers because it offers them what they demand most — “quality, speed of service and price. It is all about getting exactly what you want, and students will be the first to tell you this.”

The concept will debut on three university campuses: Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley, Ga.; North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro, N.C.; and Salve Regina University in Newport, R.I. However, Sodexo said it plans to roll out the concept to some of its other segments, including corporate dining and healthcare foodservice.

Officials for RBG said most of the locations would consist of a common seating design, which is popular at food courts.

RBG has developed several successful concepts for Sodexo, including Jazzman’s Cafe, an upscale coffeehouse chain, and Pandini’s, a fast-casual Italian outfit. Both are winners of Nation’s Restaurant News’ Hot Concepts awards.
