Schlotzksy’s showcases new Angus line

AUSTIN Texas Schlotzsky’s, the 365-unit division of Focus Brands Inc. of Atlanta, has introduced a trio of Angus beef sandwiches in a limited-time promotion.

The Angus Beef Round Up features the French Dipsky, with roast beef and mozzarella cheese on toasted sourdough bread and a side of au jus; the Philly Dilly, with roast beef, mozzarella cheese, portobello mushrooms, caramelized onions, sweet red peppers and chipotle mayonnaise on sourdough bread; and the Bacon Beefy Smokecheesy with roast beef, smoked cheddar cheese, bacon and chipotle mayonnaise on toasted sourdough bread.

The promotion comes as McDonald’s is conducting a 600-unit test of Angus burgers on the West Coast and the regional Jack in the Box chain is experimenting with a sirloin burger in its home market of San Diego. Burger King and Carl’s Jr. have offered Angus burgers for more than two years.

Steve Romaniello, president of Austin-based Schlotzsky’s and president and chief executive of Focus Brands, said the new line marks the first time the company has promoted three sandwiches at the same time. The promotion runs through May 31.
