DENVER Greg MacDonald, currently president of Quiznos Canadian division, has been promoted to president of the 4,500-unit sandwich chain, effective in July, the company said Tuesday.
MacDonald joined Quiznos in 1998 and held several senior positions in marketing and development before taking over Quiznos Canada in 2005. Under his leadership, systemwide sales in Canada increased 20 percent and franchise owner profitability more than doubled, the company said. Since late last year, MacDonald has also been involved in re-branding the U.S. business and in lowering menu prices and introducing new products, such as the $4 Toasty Torpedo sandwich.
MacDonald’s appointment comes four months after Quiznos founder Rick Schaden resumed the role of chief executive role for the Denver-based chain. Schaden, who had stepped down from day-to-day operations in 2007, returned after the resignation of Dave Deno in February.
