Quiznos offers 2nd sub for $1 for limited time

DENVER Quiznos customers who buy one of four regularly priced sandwiches can get a second for $1 for a down-on-their-luck friend or co-worker through the quick-service chain’s new Toasty Toasty promotion announced Thursday.

Through the deal, which is available through Labor Day at participating units, customers can choose from among Quiznos Classic Italian, Turkey Ranch & Swiss, Mesquite Chicken or Traditional sub and get another of the same size for $1.

The promotion is a way to reward workers who have watched jobs and perks disappear during the recession, said chief marketing officer Trey Hall.

“We’re living in difficult times and have seen so many organizations freeze salaries, do away with bonuses and eliminate such perks as on-site gyms, child care reimbursement and holiday parties,” Hall said. “While we can’t affect what workplaces do, we can help the average worker do more with less.”

Quiznos released a study with the promotion announcement that showed seven out of 10 workers surveyed confirmed their workplace perks had been taken away during the current recession, with six in 10 indicating that a paid vacation day is the compensation they’d most like to have in return for lost perks.

The study also found that close to 56 percent of workers would give their paid day off to a co-worker who was recently laid-off or an employee with whom they work closely. In addition, only 13.5 percent said they feel very appreciated by their company or organization in the current economic downturn.

On Wednesday, Carrollton, Texas-based T.G.I. Friday’s announced its own friend-oriented deal designed to boost guest counts. Called Bring Your Own Buddies, or BYOB, the summer promotion offers guests $5 off each friends’ entrées with a coupon.

Denver-based Quiznos has about 4,500 units.
