Qdoba debuts shredded pork, barbecue sauce

DENVER The nearly 400-unit Qdoba Mexican Grill chain is adding shredded pork and barbecue sauce to the menu.

The seasoned, slow-simmered shredded pork can be added to such items as tacos, burritos, salads, quesadillas and nachos. The fast-casual chain, based here, created an ancho chile barbecue sauce to accompany the pork and is rolling out an ancho chile barbecue burrito.

The sauce, peppered with hints of dried chile, hickory and mesquite, adds a sweet and spicy flavor to the pork, said Ted Stoner, Qdoba’s research and development director. The burrito is the fifth signature burrito for Qdoba customers.

Operating in 39 states, Qdoba is a wholly owned subsidiary of San Diego-based Jack in the Box.
