Pizza Hut's iPhone ordering app hits 100,000 download mark

DALLAS Two weeks after its introduction, Pizza Hut's new ordering application for the iPhone and iPod touch has surpassed 100,000 downloads from the iTunes App Store, the company said Monday.

Pizza Hut’s app, which debuted July 15, allows customers to order menu items directly from their mobile devices through an animated screen on their iPhone or their iPod Touch. It also includes a game.

“We're delighted with the early success of our Pizza Hut app,” said Brian Niccol, chief marketing officer for Pizza Hut “To reach 100,000 downloads so quickly shows that we have a unique app that gives our customers something valuable. Digital innovations have been an important part of our company's history, and the popularity of the Pizza Hut App adds to that legacy.”

Pizza Hut, a subsidiary of Yum! Brands Inc. of Lousiville, Ky., has more than 10,000 restaurants worldwide.
