Pizza Hut looks for social-media intern

DALLAS For those social-media-savvy college students who are all thumbs and Twitterholics, this is the summer job for you.

Pizza Hut is offering a summer “twinternship” on its public relations team for individuals fluent in Twitter, Facebook and other social-networking media.

The 10- to 12-week internship is a paid, full-time post in the Dallas-based chain's marketing department. Pizza Hut said it would also help interns get college credit, if applicable. The application deadline is May 3.

In ajob posting, the company says the intern will “collect and share insights and experiences while working for Pizza Hut through social and interactive media: blogs, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, new and emerging media.”

In addition, the job posting said the intern "will be given unprecedented access to marketing meetings, brainstorm sessions, ad shoots and special events; monitor social media for pop culture news, off-the-wall stories or anything else quirky and fun that he or she thinks would be of interest to loyal Pizza Hut fans, [and] chronicle experience through video; edit and post to selected media.”

Pizza Hut's hunt for a social-media-wise intern comes as rival Domino's deals with the fallout from a widely viewed YouTube video posted last week that showed two employees doing inappropriate things to food in one of the chain's stores.

Pizza Hut is a subsidiary of Yum! Brands Inc. and has 6,200 restaurants in the United States and more than 4,000 restaurants in 100 other nations.
