Nominees for the James Beard Awards announced

NEW YORK Nominees were announced Monday for the 2007 James Beard Foundation Awards, to be presented here May 7 in Lincoln Center. Thomas Keller of The French Laundry, Yountville, Calif., and Jean-Georges Vongerichten of Jean Georges, New York, are two of the Outstanding Restaurateur nominees.

Others are Keith McNally, Balthazar, New York; Richard Melman, Chicago-based Lettuce Entertain You; and Drew Nieporent, Myriad Restaurant Group, New York. Best New Restaurant nominees are A Voce, chef Andrew Carmellini, New York; Cochon, chefs-owners Donald Link and Stephen Stryjewski, New Orleans; Cut, chef-owner Wolfgang Puck, Beverly Hills; Restaurant Guy Savoy, chef-owner Guy Savoy, Las Vegas; L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon, chef-owner Joël Robuchon, New York City; and Momofuku Ssäm Bar, chef-owners David Chang and Joaquin Baca, New York. Nominees for Rising Star Chef of the Year are Nate Appleman, A16, San Francisco; Graham Elliot Bowles, Avenues at the Peninsula Hotel, Chicago; David Chang, Momofuku Noodle Bar, New York; Patrick Connelly, Radius, Boston; and Daniel Humm, Eleven Madison Park, New York.
