Nobu said to be launching catering co.

NEW YORK High-end Japanese restaurant chain Nobu is spinning off a catering operation, according to a report in the New York Post.

The catering company, called Nomatic Nobu, will make its debut in January at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, the story said. Nomatic Nobu reportedly also is in talks to cater the Cannes Film Festival in France and the U.S. Open tennis tournament at Flushing Meadows in the New York City borough of Queens.

The 17-unit Nobu group is owned and operated by Drew Nieporent’s Myriad Restaurant Group in partnership with chef Nobu Matsuhisa, actor Robert De Niro, producer Meir Teper and Richard Notar, who will reportedly head up the catering.
