Naddaff goes public with latest venture

BOSTON UFood Restaurant Group Inc., a nine-unit fast-casual chain headed by foodservice veteran George Naddaff, has completed a reverse merger and began trading over the counter as a public company.

Launched in 1997 as KnowFat! Lifestyle Grille, UFood operates or franchises seven locations in the Boston area and one each in Naples, Fla., and Sacramento, Calif. The chain emphasizes the healthful attributes of its menu items, and lists ingredients as well as nutritional values on menu boards and menus. UFood also offers a retail component that sells a variety of nutrition-oriented products.

The company said it has sold six area development agreements and 64 franchise licenses across the country.

Naddaff, who serves as UFoodÕs chairman and chief executive, previously has been involved with such foodservice brands as Boston Market and Ranch*1.
