General Mills Foodservice relaunches its website. Also this week: Sara Lee Foodservice, Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board, Icelandic USA, Tyson Foods’ Food Service, Maines Paper & Foodservice Inc., and McIlhenny Company.

MINNEAPOLIS — General Mills Foodservice has relaunched its website, incorporating a new look and changes that were requested by foodservice operators. The website, www.generalmillsfoodservice.com, features a larger, more prominent recipe section with a searchable database, which enables operators to more quickly find recipes by industry category or General Mills product. In addition, it includes interactive tools, ranging from support materials and training videos to recommended products and recipes.

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. — Sara Lee Foodservice, a supplier of coffee, tea, meat and bakery products, has named Charlie McConnell director of customer marketing, broadline. McConnell, who has 17 years of foodservice experience, most recently was customer marketing manager at Unilever Foodsolutions. At Sara Lee he will be responsible for defining and executing broadline segment strategies.

MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board has appointed two managers to its regional marketing team. David Moore has been named regional marketing manager for the Southwest, based in Texas, while Matt Nolan is regional marketing manager for the North Atlantic, based in Pennsylvania. Moore and Nolan will work with retail and foodservice accounts, including specialty and grocery stores, distributors, restaurants and chefs to build usage of Wisconsin cheese in their business.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Icelandic cod fishery in Reykjavik, Iceland, received a certification from the Iceland Responsible Fisheries Management Certification Program. The certification recognizes the Iceland cod fishery for efforts to proactively strengthen the industry with high standards, strong management and responsible sustainability practices. Icelandic USA, which is a global processor and trader in fresh and frozen fish and seafood, is a partner of the Icelandic cod fishery.

NEW ORLEANS — Tyson Foods’ Food Service division said it would donate 30,000 pounds of food to two metropolitan New Orleans organizations, Café Reconcile and the Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans. The donations are being made in support of the International Foodservice Editorial Council’s community outreach efforts during its annual conference in New Orleans earlier this year. In October, Tyson also donated 26,000 pounds to the Atlanta Community Food Bank, Teens at Work and the Hospitality and Culinary Arts Academy of Redan High School.

CONKLIN, N.Y. — Maines Paper & Food Service Inc. has acquired the primary assets of Acme Pre-Pak Corp., which supplies produce, dairy and grocery products to restaurants, grocery stores and institutions throughout New England. The acquisition of the Worcester, Mass.-based Acme expands Maines’ broadline business.

AVERY ISLAND, La. — McIlhenny Company, which manufacturers Tabasco Brand Pepper Sauce, has appointed Judson McLester as its executive chef and manager of ingredient sales. A veteran of the restaurant industry for almost 20 years, McLester is a member of the Institute of Food Technologists, the American Culinary Federation and a founding member of the Research Chefs Association.
