Popeyes signs deals with Coca-Cola and Dr Pepper Snapple Group. Also this week: PepsiCo Foodservice, Wixon Inc., Kold-Draft, Fresh Gourmet, Idaho Potato Commission, Systems Services of America, and Hess Small Business Services.

ATLANTA — Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, a unit of AFC Enterprises Inc., has signed multiyear agreements with The Coca-Cola Co. in Atlanta and Dr Pepper Snapple Group in Plano, Texas. Cheryl Bachelder, president and chief executive of Popeyes and AFC, said the company was “putting in place a unified strategy for fountain beverages that we expect will provide great beverage brands to our guests and strong results to the operators of our 1,500-plus restaurants nationwide.”

PURCHASE, N.Y. — Chuck E. Cheese’s, a family-dining and entertainment chain based in Irving, Texas, has signed a multiyear deal with food and beverage supplier PepsiCo Foodservice. Chuck E. Cheese’s, which is owned by CEC Entertainment Inc., will be serving PepsiCo beverage products in its more than 500 restaurants beginning next month. It marks the company’s first major beverage shift in 33 years.

SAINT FRANCIS, Wis. — Wixon Inc., the food and beverage ingredient supplier based here, has named Mathew Freistadt to the post of corporate chef. Freistadt, who previously was director of research and development for Protein Solutions in Chicago, will be responsible for research and development, directing culinary and advising on food and beverage projects.

ERIE, Pa. — Kold-Draft, a manufacturer of ice making and bagging machines, has named Jack Antell vice president of sales. In his new capacity, Antell will oversee the overall direction of strategic sales. He has experience in management and sales capacities in the foodservice equipment and manufacturing industries.

NEW YORK — Winners have been announced for the “2010 What’s In Your Pantry?” recipe contest, co-sponsored by Fresh Gourmet, a brand of Sugar Foods Corp., and the Idaho Potato Commission. The contest asked foodservice operators and culinary students to submit recipes that included fresh, frozen or dry Idaho Potatoes and one-half ounce of any of the five varieties of Fresh Gourmet Crunchy Toppings. The winners are:

• Grand Prize: Parmesan, Potato and Tortilla Encrusted Tilapia with Tropical Salsa — Gregg Russell, Jerry L. Pettis Memorial VA Hospital

• Dry Potato Category: Cali-Tater Kickin Chicken Crunch — Chuck Shepherd, Zaxby’s.

• Frozen Potato Category: Mexican Cheesy Potato Bake — Shane Hamline, Kansas City Public School

• Fresh Potato Category: Ana’s Giant Breakfast Burrito — Scott Hoffman, The Mason Jar

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Systems Services of America, a systems distribution supplier based here, has signed a three-year contract with the 68-unit Farmer Boys Foods restaurant chain. SSA will provide exclusive foodservice distribution to the regional restaurant operator.

WOODBRIDGE, N.J. — The New York State Restaurant Association has exclusively endorsed Hess Small Business Services as its preferred supplier of electricity and natural gas for member restaurants in the New York City metropolitan area. Hess recently entered the New York City electricity market.
