American Dairy Queen honors Sysco Montana, Pactiv Corp., and Galliker’s Dairy Co. Also this week: The Coca-Cola Co., StarChefs.com, Vitamix, Hirai Farms, National Frozen Food Corp., Hatco Corp., Esrock Partners, The Boston Beer Co., and Icelandic Group.

MINNEAPOLIS — Unified Supply Chain, Inc., a subsidiary of American Dairy Queen Corp., has named the winners of its annual Distributor, Vendor and Dairy of the Year awards.
They are:

• Distributor of the Year: Sysco Montana, Billings, Mont., for its performance accuracy in order fulfillment, on time delivery, pricing variances and service follow-up.
• Vendor of the Year: Pactiv Corp., Lake Forest, Ill., for its new image programs and product platforms.
• Dairy of the Year: Galliker’s Dairy Co., Johnstown, Pa., for receiving the highest scores on product quality, service and systemwide support.

The awards recognize Dairy Queen’s supply chain partners that have provided superior service and outstanding support to the 5,700 Dairy Queen and DQ Grill & Chill worldwide.

CHICAGO — The Network of Executive Women named Jeffery Tobias Halter, director of diversity leadership strategy for The Coca-Cola Co., as co-chair of the Network’s fourth annual Multicultural Workforce Conference. The event will be held in Atlanta March 1-3, 2011. Halter manages the integration of The Coca-Cola Co.’s strategies regarding diversity in relationship to the marketplace, community and workplace.

MILWAUKEE — Hatco Corp., the heating and warming equipment supplier based here, has named Chicago-based Esrock Partners as its agency of record for all foodservice marketing support. Hatco, together with Esrock, is planning to launch a major marketing push in 2011.

CHICAGO — Jim Koch, founder of The Boston Beer Company, which brews Samuel Adams beer, will speak at the National Restaurant Association’s 2011 International Wine, Spirits & Beer event. Koch’s session, titled “The American Craft Beer Revolution,” will take place May 23, 2011, at 10 a.m. during the NRA Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show at McCormick Place in Chicago.

REYKJAVIK, Iceland — Icelandic Group, one of Europe’s largest seafood companies, has launched a process of sustainability certification of all cod and haddock fisheries in Iceland to the standard of the Marine Stewardship Council. Icelandic Group buys and markets more than one third of Iceland’s total fish quota and sees MSC assessment as being a key part of its continued investment. Rupert Howes, chief executive of the MSC, called Icelandic’s decision “of huge historical significance.”

CLEVELAND — StarChefs.com and Vitamix announced the winners of the “Blend Off” at the 2010 International Chefs Congress in New York City. Vincent Pantoliano, pastry chef at Meat Market in Miami, was awarded the Grand Prize for his goat cheesecake inspired by Jordan Kahn's play on textures. Chris Windus, executive chef at Todd English’s Bluezoo at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort, was named the first runner up for his loup de mer with carrot espelette noodle.

COLUMBIA BASIN, Wash. — Hirai Farms, National Frozen Foods Corp., and Annie’s Fun teamed up as part of the Vertically Integrated Partnership to donate 217,000 pounds of sweet corn from the Moses Lake/Quincy area to Northwest Harvest warehouses in Spokane, Yakima and Kent, Wash. The Vertically Integrated Partnership is a coalition of farmers, and food processors, distributors and foodservice companies, working to end hunger in the Pacific Northwest.
