KFC pushes wings with ‘Hotter than Hell’ promo

LOUISVILLE Ky. KFC is promoting its Hot Wings by awarding free samples to consumers in cities and towns that record temperatures higher than those in Hell, Mich.

Starting today and ending July 4, KFC will post the temperature of Hell, a small town in southeast Michigan, at www.kfc.com every afternoon so that consumers can compare it to the temperatures in their cities. If local temperatures are “Hotter than Hell,” consumers can register to win free KFC Hot Wings. The first 500 people who register their hometown’s temperatures on the website between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Eastern time each day will win.

To monitor the temperature of Hell, KFC installed an oversized thermometer on the exterior of the town’s general store. The KFC Colonel also hosted a free lunch in Hell.

KFC, a division of Yum! Brands Inc. with more than 14,000 units worldwide, sells six wings for $2.99 and 20 for $9.99.
