KFC pushes value menu in L.A.

LOS ANGELES KFC has started promoting a nine-item value menu in the Greater Los Angeles area, where the chicken chain has some 300 branches. The selections are organized into three pricing tiers: 99 cents, $1.49 and $1.99.

The least-expensive options are a KFC Snacker sandwich, two apple turnovers or two biscuits. The higher-priced tiers include such choices as a Side Salad, the Toasted Wrap, the Honey BBQ Chicken Sandwich and a Popcorn Chicken Snack Box with potato wedges.

Promotional materials include mailer inserts, point-of-purchase notices and a website, KFC-LA.com. A coupon, one of 12 on the back of the insert or printable from the website, offers a free Original Recipe Sandwich with the purchase of a large drink. The other 11 coupons, for combination meals from $2.99 to $19.99, appear under an offer of free mashed potatoes and gravy with any regularly priced meal of eight pieces or larger.
