WASHINGTON A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed last year against KFC for failing to warn customers that its frying oil contained artificial trans fats, a known contributor to cardiovascular disease. U.S. District Judge James Robertson said plaintiff Arthur Hoyte did not prove that he was harmed by eating KFC's food.
KFC and sister Yum! Brands chain Taco Bell announced this week that they have switched to frying oils with zero grams of trans fat. KFC is now using low linolenic soybean oil in its 5,500 U.S. restaurants, and Taco Bell is using canola oil in its 4,200 domestic units. KFC is touting the switch in new TV commercials.
