Food & Wine selects best new chefs

NEW YORK Food & Wine magazine has named its annual roster of “Best New Chefs in America,” potentially giving big boosts to the careers of the winners.

Past recipients of the honor have included celebrity chefs Thomas Keller, Rocco DiSpirito, Daniel Boulud and Tom Colicchio.

This year's winners are:

  • Nate Appleman of A16 & SPQR in San Francisco
  • Bryan Caswell of Reef in Houston,
  • Vinny Dotolo and Jon Shook of Animal in Los Angeles,
  • Kelly English of Restaurant Iris in Memphis, Tenn.
  • Mark Fuller of Spring Hill in Seattle
  • Linton Hopkins of Restaurant Eugene and Holeman & Finch in Atlanta
  • Christopher Kostow of Meadowood in St. Helena, Calif.,
  • Paul Liebrandt of Corton in New York City
  • Barry Maiden of Hungry Mother in Cambridge, Mass.
  • Naomi Pomeroy of Beast in Portland, Ore.
