El Pollo Loco brings back queso crunch burrito

El Pollo Loco, a 412-unit chain specializing in grilled chicken, has brought back its queso crunch burrito as a limited-time offer.

The item combines the Costa Mesa, Calif.-based chain’s signature citrus-marinated, flame-grilled chicken with queso, salsa and crunchy tortilla strips wrapped in a flour tortilla and then grilled.

Making use of the addition earlier this year of steak to its menu, El Pollo Loco is also offering the option of substituting carne asada-style sirloin steak for chicken.

The burrito is available from July 24 through the end of September.

El Pollo Loco is promoting the burrito with point-of-purchase items such as window clings, register displays, tray liners and drive-thru communications. It also will be airing television commercials in English and Spanish in select West Coast markets beginning Aug. 2.

The queso crunch burrito first was introduced as an LTO in February of 2008.
