Einstein Noah plans low-cal breakfast 'wedge'

LAKEWOOD Colo. Einstein Noah Restaurant Group is planning a new line of low-calorie, handheld breakfast items to be launched after the first quarter of 2009, chief operating officer Dan Dominguez said.

Each “wedge” will contain fewer than 400 calories and sell for less than $5, said Dominguez, whose company operates or franchises more than 600 restaurants under the Noah’s New York Bagels, Einstein Bros. Bagels, Manhattan Bagel and New World Coffee brands.

The first item in the line will be an egg white Florentine wedge, made with egg whites, turkey sausage, spinach and mushrooms in a cone-shaped tortilla.
