Domino’s offers mobile internet ordering

ANN ARBOR Mich. Domino’s Pizza said about half of the chain’s 5,128 domestic units can now accept delivery orders from the browsers of patrons’ internet-enabled cell phones.

Customers navigate to mobile.dominos.com and enter their order and address. Credit card information also can be entered. The orders usually arrive in about 30 minutes, said Rob Weisberg, vice president of precision and print marketing. The pizza chain claims to be the first to offer online ordering from cell phones.

The service will be rolled out to additional Domino’s units as soon as possible, Weisberg said.

“With the addition of yet another order-taking channel, Domino’s is thrilled to lead the market with this breakthrough technology that continues to change the way people think about ordering pizza,” Weisberg said.

Domino’s operates or franchises more than 8,000 outlets in more than 50 countries. Global sales totaled nearly $5.1 billion last year.
