Denny's touts packaging in new takeout breakfasts

SPARTANBURG S.C. Denny’s Corp. is launching a new takeout program called Real B-FST 2GO that features a container designed to keep food orders warm for up to 30 minutes.

Company officials said the "Denny's Dome" packaging is divided into two areas, one that is ventilated to keep items like bacon, hash browns and French fries crisp and a closed section that maintains moisture for foods like sausage and eggs. An insert plate on top is designed to hold pancakes and French toast.

Denny's has developed a to-go menu of items that officials said would travel well in the new dome packaging. The company said it would support the Real B-FST 2GO line with television advertising and in-store merchandising.

Over the past year, Denny's has ramped up its breakfast program in order to protect its market share, from its family-dining rivals, like IHOP, as well as quick-service concepts. Denny's breakfast campaign has included a series of TV ads urging consumers not to fall for "fake" fast-food breakfasts.

Denny’s has more than 1,500 family-dining restaurants in the United States.
