Denny's asks for best Obama, McCain impersonations

SPARTANBURG S.C. Denny’s has launched a national online contest to find the best impersonators of presidential candidates Barack Obama and John McCain.

Consumers who look like, sound like, or “just vaguely resemble” either candidate can upload video impersonations to www.youtube.com/group/Vote4Real. Submissions, which will be accepted until July 31, must include an original speech about Denny’s “Real Breakfast.” After uploading their videos, consumers can enter the contest by filling out an entry form at www.vote4real.com.

Submissions must be no longer than 30 seconds and will be evaluated on appearance and mannerisms. Videos attacking the candidates or their policies will be disqualified.

The best three impersonators for each candidate will be placed on a ballot at www.vote4real.com, where the public can vote for them from Aug. 5 to 15. The two winners each will receive a gift card good for one meal at Denny’s every month until the next presidential election in 2012.

The website also features a sweepstakes, which will award a trip for two to Washington, D.C., in January 2009 to participate in presidential inauguration festivities.

The “Vote for Real” promotion is part of Denny’s recently launched “Don’t Fall for Fake” campaign. Denny’s has more than 1,500 family-dining restaurants in the United States.
