Denny’s inks development deal for travel center units

SPARTANBURG S.C. Denny’s Corp. is teaming up with Pilot Travel Centers to develop an undisclosed number of restaurants in travel centers across the country, the companies said in a joint release.

The first Denny's restaurant in a Pilot Travel Center is under construction in Mount Vernon, Ill. Construction of other DennyÕs-Pilot units is expected to begin next year, the companies said.

Denny's, based here, operates 488 restaurants and franchises or licenses another 1,051 units in the United States, Canada, Costa Rica, Guam, Mexico, New Zealand and Puerto Rico.

Knoxville, Tenn.-based Pilot Travel Centers owns and operates nearly 300 travel centers in 40 states. The company also licenses locations in Kansas, Montana and Nebraska, and recently opened a location in Canada.
