Delaware North tests uWink's self-serve terminals at airport Chili's

FORT LAUDERDALE Fla. Contract feeder Delaware North Cos. has partnered with uWink Inc. in a test of the digital entertainment company's self-service touch screen terminals in a Chili's restaurant in the airport here.

Delaware North said it has installed four of the touch screens in the Chili's Too Margarita Bar in the Fort Lauderdale International Airport. Customers can use the terminals to order food and drinks, play a variety of games and pay their checks.

The menus and games are offered in English and Spanish, which Delaware North said would “improve the experience of international visitors.” In a joint press release, Delaware North and uWink said the technology would be soon be available in German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese and French languages.

Delaware North said it would use the test at Chili's to determine if the uWink terminals could improve the quality and speed of service at its other airport restaurants. The Buffalo, N.Y.-based contract feeder operates more than 300 restaurants and retail locations in 25 airports worldwide.

The Los Angeles-based uWink also has three namesake bistros in California that feature the self-service technology. The company was founded by Nolan Bushnell, creator of video game pioneer Atari, as well as the Chuck E. Cheese family restaurant chain.
