Cousins Subs debuts new logo, prototype

MENOMONEE FALLS Wis. Cousins Subs, a sandwich chain based in the Milwaukee area with more than 150 units in six states, has introduced a new logo and store prototype that will be used in restaurants built after January 2010.

The new logo keeps the signature red and yellow colors but has what the company calls a “friendlier, easier-to-read type,” as well as a green-striped border intended to convey the impression of fresher, more healthful food. The new logo also is highlighted to give it more of a three-dimensional feel.

The new restaurant design is smaller — 1,600 square feet instead of the 1,800 to 2,200 square feet of existing restaurants, Cousins Subs said.

The prototype also has new wall art featuring five-foot-long images portraying the artisanship of its bread, meats, cheese and produce. In addition, each new unit will have a “History Board,” a three-square-foot collage of images and texts telling the chain’s history from 1972 to present day.

The new logo was developed by Welke Group, and RCS Interiors redesigned the front-of-the-house. Both companies are based in Milwaukee.
