CKE inks franchise deals for 51 Carl's Jr. units

CARPINTERIA Calif. CKE Restaurants Inc. said it has signed three agreements with existing franchisees that call for the opening of a combined 51 Carl’s Jr. units in Nevada and Idaho over the next 10 years.

Franchisee Steve Larson, owner of S.L. Investments Inc., has agreed to open 30 new locations over the next decade in Las Vegas, where he already operates 30 units.

In addition, 12 new Carl’s Jr. units are planned over the next six years in Idaho, including six in the Pocatello and Idaho Falls area, three in Twin Falls and three in Boise. The Idaho locations will be owned by franchisees John Nelson and Clayton Jones, who currently operate nine Carl's Jr. units in the state.

Behnam Rodd of BR Reno Star has agreed to open nine Carl’s Jr. restaurants in the Reno, Nev., area over the next eight years. Rodd owns two Carl’s Jr. units in Los Angeles and recently bought seven units in Reno.

CKE operates or franchises 1,170 Carl’s Jr. and 1,917 Hardee’s restaurants in 42 states and 14 countries.
