Centerplate taps chef Chin for D.C. center

WASHINGTON Renowned chef Philippe Chin said Thursday he has been hired by on-site foodservice provider Centerplate Inc. to be the executive chef at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center here.

Paris-born Chin has been a fixture in the Augusta, Ga., scene for years, most notably as executive chef of the Partridge Inn, where he started in 2001. Before that he had a successful career in Philadelphia at Philippe on Locust and Chanterelles. He has been nominated for regional James Beard Foundation awards and was the youngest chef on record to be inducted into the Maitres Cuisiniers de France.

"We are delighted to announce Philippe Chin as the latest addition to our network of culinary experts," said Des Hague, president and chief executive of Centerplate. "With the addition of Philippe -- a highly acclaimed master chef with an unparalleled record -- we will continue to raise the bar by delivering unmatched culinary innovation."

Stamford, Conn.-based Centerplate provides foodservice for more than 140 sports and entertainment venues.
