Brinker's sales and profit fall in 1Q

DALLAS Brinker International Inc. reported double-digit declines in both revenue and profit for its fiscal 2010 first quarter, mainly because of one-time items and a reduced number of restaurants from the sale of the Romano’s Macaroni Grill chain.

For the quarter ended Sept. 23, Brinker earned $15.8 million, or 15 cents per share, compared with earnings of $23.8 million, or 23 cents per share, in the same quarter a year ago. Brinker noted that excluding the results
