Arby’s tries to trump rivals with $5 sub meals

ATLANTA Arby’s is taking aim at Subway and Quiznos’ $5 sandwich offers by cutting the price of a Toasted Sub combo meal to the same price level for a limited time.

Arby's said its $5 deal includes one of four Toasted Subs, curly fries and a drink.

“Unlike those other guys who promote $5 for just a sandwich as a great deal, Arby’s is really trying to help out today’s cash-strapped consumers with a full meal for the same price,” said Jason Abelkop, senior vice president of marketing for Arby’s Restaurant Group Inc.

The toasted sandwich choices include Turkey Bacon Club, Classic Italian, French Dip & Swiss and Philly Beef. The $5 meal deal will be offered through Nov. 8, Arby's said.

Arby’s consists of 1,169 company-owned and 2,550 franchised restaurants. The brand is owned by Wendy’s/Arby’s Group Inc. of Atlanta.
